South Georgia Pride is organized for charitable purposes benefiting the rights, equality, and general well being of the LGBT community in the South Georgia area. It was formed in 2008 as Valdosta Diversity Pride, part of the Valdosta State University Gay-Straight Alliance.
It was decided in 2009 that Valdosta Diversity Pride would become an independent organization from the VSU campus. The first Pride festival had good sponsorship, but was met with limited success.
2012 featured the most successful pride to date. Entertainers and spokespeople from across the country graced the amphitheater of Saunders Park. Strong support from not only the Valdosta Community, but also Atlanta, Jacksonville, Gainesville and other cities raised attendance to over 2000 people!
South Georgia Pride begins 2013 with a new website, an expanded board of directors, and the goal of an even more fabulous Pride 2013. Details are still being worked out so stay tune and let’s make this year the best yet.
Code of Conduct
South Georgia Pride is committed to a safe, fun, family atmosphere. We expect our volunteers, vendors and entertainers to maintain a courteous and professional attitude at all public and private events. We also hope our community, friends, family and guests will help us maintain the atmosphere we work so hard to create. Thank you, everyone, for your assistance.
